CROTTA COISTE NA NOG NEWS:
Our U12 'A' and 'B' teams have had a number of outings in the past couple of weeks. Last Friday week our second team played Lixnaw in Lixnaw and came away with both points after a 3-02 to 0-03 win. Darragh Behan, Darragh O'Donoghue, Jeaic Mckenna, Dominic Nolan and Sean Murnane the hat-trick hero were outstanding in this match but the team as a whole hurled very well.Scorers as folllows: Sean Murnane(3-00)Darragh O'Donoghue(0-01)Eamon Rohan(0-01).There next game was last Friday evening away to Na Gaeil and Crotta got off to a blistering start. Darragh Behan who was outstanding throughout pointed an early free and also pointed from play before the Murnane twins raised a green flag each. Na gaeil proved to be a tough enough nut to crack for the remainder of the match but Sean Murnane eased the pressure in the second half with another (1-01) to his name. At full time it was Crotta 3-03 Na Gaeil 0-02. Crotta now top Div 3 table with one game to go against Dr Crokes.
Our U12 'A' team played Abbeydorney last Monday week in Abbeydorney and after a pulsating encounter we again emerged victorious. A few players were promoted from the second team and they did not disappoint. Darragh O'Donoghue opened the scoring with a point from a difficult angle but soon afterwards a long strike from Killian Spillane(Abbeydorney) deceived the Crotta keeper and ended in the net. Barry Mahony pointed a free and then Darragh O'Donoghue collected a ball, turned and fired an unstoppable shot to the top corner of the net. Half time Crotta 1-02 Abbeydorney 1-00. John Quilter who had a great match kept Crotta in the game as he cleared his lines time and again. Barry Mahony scored a goal midway through the second but Abbeydorney replied with three points to leave the score at Crotta 2-02 Abbeydorney 1-03. Abbeydorney were exerting a lot of pressure at this point in time but a massive pointed free from his own half by Brian O'Connell kept a goal between the teams. With five mins left Donal Hunt drove a ball towards the Abbeydorney goals. It was collected by Darragh O'Donoghue and eventhough he still had enough to do, he evaded his marker and shot to the roof of the net. Final score Crotta 3-03 Abbeydorney 1-03. scorers Darragh O'Donoghue(2-01) Barry Mahony (1-01) Brian O'Connell(0-01).
Our U14 team also played last Sunday week in Lixnaw against Lixnaw in Div 1 of the County League. Even though Lixnaw are probably the strongest taem in the league the lads hurled really well and won on a scoreline of Crotta 3-09 Lixnaw 3-02. Scorers for Crotta Raymond Nolan(1-04)Jordan Conway(1-01)Colin Browne(1-00)Darragh Regan(0-02)Sean O'Donoghue (0-01) Adam O'Sullivan (0-01).
