Senior Team

Our Senior Team played the second round of the Championship in Ballymacnab on Saturday evening last and came away with a draw.  Silverbridge got on the score board first after five minutes with a point from L Campbell. Keady struck two points from frees It was point for point for both team and with two nice points from play from the Bridge left them going in at half time SB 0-6 to Keady 0-5. The second half started much the same as the first with never more than a point separating the sides at any stage during the game. As the game entered the dying minutes Keady took the lead but with the last kick of the match an L Campbell free left the Bridge to fight another day. Replay next Sunday 14th September in Ballymacnab with a 2 o’ clock throw in.

Minors

Our minor team reached the next round of the Minor Championship on Sunday last after staging a tremendous recovery in the second half. Silverbridge missed out on many scoring opportunities in the first half and were seven points to two behind at half-time. However our managers introduced the injured Kieran Maguire in the second half and immediately he steadied the ship and gave some fantastic passes to the inside forwards who picked off their points. Indeed Kieran set the place alight with a superb goal himself to put his team in front by two points for the first time. This score was quickly followed by a point and then Christopher Reel added a further goal, whilst P Carragher and Cathal Lambe scored a further two points to bring the final score to Silverbridge 2-9 Killeavey 0-8. This was a very heartening second half performance and should give the whole team a great lift for their next game on Saturday next.

Under 16 Boys

Our Under 16 Boys played Shane O’ Neills in Cullyhanna on Thursday evening last in the semi final of the league and although played some great football were unfortunate to lose by four points in the end. The management would like to thank the boys for their commitment throughout the year.
