Senior Team

Silverbridge hosted Tir Na Nog in Keeley Park on Sunday after a tough hour’s football finished up on the losing side by one point. Tir Na Nog opened the scoring but Silverbridge went into the lead with two converted forty fives. Both teams exchanged points and then Tir Na Nog opened up the Bridge’s defence to score a goal, followed by a point. The Bridge fought back by half time with some good scores to leave them trailing by one at half time. A good start to the second half saw the Bridge take the lead only for Tir Na Nog to have their best spell of the match in which they scored a goal and four points without reply. A well worked Brendan Bellew goal brought the Bridge back into the game and with 12 minutes to go it was all to play for. A controversial Tir Na Nog point stretched their lead to four but a grand stand finish from the Bridge brought the difference to one as time ran out for the home side. Final score Silverbridge 1-13 Tir Na Nog  2-11.

B Team

Our B Team went by the wayside in this All County B Final on Wednesday night last against a very strong and fit Killeavey team. In many areas of the field we just did  not match up to our opponents and found ourselves with a mountain to climb after only eight minutes of play when Killeavey had run up a lead of one goal and five points to our two points. This left us in the position of playing catch up at all times. Indeed Killeavey hammered home another early goal in the second half and really the game was well and truly over at this stage. However this team had some very good performances throughout the year and now plays Rangers in the South Armagh semi final soon. Date to be arranged.

Minors

Our Minors played Cullaville on Thursday evening last in a re-fixture and came away with a victory. This was an evenly balanced contest and the win keeps the Bridge in contention for league honours. Good performances from Christopher Reel and Christopher Rowland. Next match on Monday evening against Corrinshego at home.

Senior Ladies.

The Silverbridge ladies got their league campaign up and going again after a 5 week lay off.  The Bridge hosted Tullysarron in Keeley Park and started much the brighter team opening the scoring with an early goal; they soon registered a few points with slack tackling by the visitors. It was a tight first half but the home side did enough to stay in front with a score line of 2-3 to 0-3 at the break.  The second half started much the same as the first with the Bridge taking full advantage of an early goal chance, The visitors tried hard and  kicked two unanswered points, the home side soon dug deep and took control of the game an eventually finished convincing winners with a final score line of Silverbridge 4-07 v Tullysarron 0-5.
