Senior Team

Sundays senior game was away to Wolf Tones played in excellent conditions. It was Tones who registered the first point followed by scores from G McGarvey and C McAvoy, both teams traded two more points a piece,  as play switched from one end of the field to the other. At this stage Tones had kicked a few bad wides but on the 20th minute made amends as they worked the ball through the bridge defence to score a goal and put them two points ahead. The bridge reply was instant as C McAvoy flicked a long pass into the path of D McCann who beat the keeper with a low shot into the net. B Byrne finished the first half scoring with a point leaving the half time score 1-5 to 1-3 in favour of the bridge. Tones kept the pressure on in the second half and scored the first point. An  N Traynor point left two in it to the bridge but Tones kept the pressure on and scored two points back to back. The lads fought hard and a nice long range point from B Byrne kept the bridge in front. With seven minutes to go and both teams level it was all to play for. Tones came back down the field and a long range point put them in front for the first time since the opening minute, with only minutes to go Tones scored again but a N Traynor point left one between the teams as Jimmy McKee blew the final whistle. Final score SB 1-9 WT 1-10. B Team

Our B Team traveled the short journey play Mullabawn on Wednesday night last and collected both points. The lost club started the stronger and soon put two points on the scoreboard. Silverbridge replied with a quick point by B Connolly followed by two more from Thomas Mallie Silverbridge were excelling in the middle of the park and with a good supply going to the forward line it wasn’t long before they built up a comfortable score leading by 1-11 to 1-2 at half time. The second half took off in the same fashion with A Crummey hitting the net in a space of seven minutes. A further two points was added on by Silverbridge before Jarlath Burns found the net from a penalty spot. Overall this was a fine team performance. The only dull moment being when A Campbell got an injury and had to be stretchered off. We wish him a speedy recovery. Final score Silverbridge 3-14 Mullabawn 1-6

Minor

Mondays minor match was an away fixture against Killeavy. Playing in excellent conditions, Silverbridge were straight out of the blocks and were 5 points up after 15 minutes with points from T.Mckenna B.Hearty and C.Maguire. Mid field was well on top and at the break lead 0.8-0.2. In the second half a brilliant build up lead to a B.Hearty goal and it was this score that separated the sides at the finish 1.9-0.9 Once again a brilliant gutsy performance with all fifteen  playing their  part.

U14

Silverbridge U14 boys played Shane O’Neills at home on Tuesday night, this was a great contest between two evenly matched teams with Silverbridge producing their best performance of the season so far, following some early scores from Shanes, the Bridge replied with two well taken goals from Gary Reel and Bernard Garvey before half time to lead at the break.  Shanes came back strongly in the Second half with some well taken points and led the match going into the last few minutes unfortunately the Bridge did not have the luck on the night with a late effort coming back of the post to deny a match winning goal, the team can however be proud of a good performance and can build on this as the season progresses. Team P O’Neill, P hearty, F Burns, P Reel, C Mullholland, C Cunningham, P McKeever, C McKeown, P Reel, B Garvey, B Murphy, P Keatings, E Burns, G Reel, A Quinn, G Rowland.

U12

The U12’s were in action on Saturday playing Mullabawn away and after a fine performance they claimed a good win. Early points in the 1st half from Sean Og McShane, Ryan Loye and a goal each from Joe Rocks and James McKeown meant the team had a good half time lead. In the second half the lads had more defending to do with Jack McArdle, Sean Garvey, Colman Burns in the defence were playing there part. Jarley Og Burns winning plenty of ball at midfield left the forwards getting more scores and were winners at the final whistle. This was a great team performance with everyone playing their part.
