SENIORS

This weekend sees the Seniors face Gowna in the Championship Quarter Finals in Kingspan Breffni Park @ 6.30pm on Saturday.  Training has been going well over the past few weeks and the side will be looking to get to the Senior Semi-Final for the first time since, well it’s been a while anyway!

So make your way to Breffni, drag plenty of others with ye and shout yourself hoarse trying to cheer the Stars into the semi’s.

JUNIORS

The Juniors are a step ahead of the Seniors and are already thru to the Champship Semi and they will face Cavan Gaels on Saturday 3rd September in Cootehill @ 3pm. A championship semi against the Gaels, well if you can’t get along to that, I’m not sure what you waiting for….

LADIES

Afraid I don’t have any news for ye on the local girl’s team but I can tell you that the Cavan Ladies are in the All-Ireland Intermediate Semi-Final against Waterford this Saturday.  Sadly, this means that the Seniors will be without our physio for our championship match as our own Claire Murtagh lines out at midfield for the Cavan team.

We wish Claire and all the Cavan ladies the best of luck.  I can’t give you anymore details of the match as they are very hard to come by, even though they are just 60 mins away from an All-Ireland Final in Croke Park.  I think the game is on TG4 around 4pm so why not take it in on TV before you head to Breffni to cheer on the Seniors

UNDERAGE

The 14s kicked into Championship action on Monday night  when they faced Ramor Utd down the park. Sadly though, the Virginia boys were far too strong and ran out comfortable winners but you’ll get nights like that….

The 12s season comes to an end this weekend when they take place in the Super Blitz in Kingspan Breffni Park on Saturday 28th.  Then to mark the end of the season, I believe James has a bit of a treat planned and will bring them all to the local library and then on to Mass* before bringing them back to Breffni to take in the Seniors Championship match v Gowna.

Finally the 10s are away to Bailieboro on Wednesday night and again more are planned over the next few weeks.

* Mass & Library might well be code for McDonalds & Ice-Cream!

JUVENILE DRAW

The juvenile club’s annual fundraising draw takes place in September.  This is the only fundraising event the club has in this regard and is of vital importance to the running of the many underage teams that the club fields in both boys & girls from U-6 upwards.

First prize is Two Tickets to the All-Ireland Senior Football Final along with overnight accommodation in Skylon Hotel and €200 spending money.  There are further cash prizes all the way down to 8th place.

All told, a prize well worth winning so why not try your luck and help support all the good work that the many volunteers at underage level put in, not to mention the dedication of the young players as well.  Tickets are available for all committee members and from usual retail outlets (i.e. Pat, Robbie & M&F’s….) and this year can also be purchased directly on the club website, so for those of ye who can’t make it to a committee man over the next month, just log onto www.kingscourtstars.ie

FOLLOW THE STARS?

Love following the Stars?  Fed up with games being played, changed or cancelled without knowing about it? Well now you know how I f…. J. Fear not, Kingscourt Stars GAA are offering a new free service which will see you receive a text advising you of last minute games, changes or general club news which won’t wait until next week’s club notes or weekly newsletter.

To get yourself on the text list, either e-mail your name & number to info@kingscourtstars.ie , text them to 086 8237382 or drop them into the usual suspects….  All that said, the service will still only work if I know about the changes, so, can’t make any promises there!!

LOTTO

The winning numbers in this week’s lotto were 01, 07, 23 & 25 (Bonus 09).  There was no jackpot winner and just the one Match 3 with Margaret Kelly winning €200 each. Next week’s jackpot will be €2,800 (€7,800 including bonus) and the draw will take place in Malones.
