JUNIORS

The Juniors made their way to the semi-final of the Junior B Championship with a comfortable 1-11 to 0-8 win in Belturbet at the weekend.  A goal after 30 seconds from Anthony Corcoran set the tone and throughout the remainder of the first half, the half forwards linked well with Darragh Gunne to give the Stars a 1-8 to 0-3 halftime lead.  For a full report, go to www.kingscourtstars.ie

In two weeks time we will face Killygarry for a place in the final although this fixture has not yet been finalised.

MINORS

The Minors open their championship campaign this Saturday away to St. Joseph’s in Arva at 12 noon.  This will be an extremely difficult game as the league match back in February saw Kingscourt victorious by just a solitary point.  After the great league campaign though, confidence is high, however, a top class performance will be required to achieve the win.

This team, and their management have made huge strides this year and deserve all the support they can get, so if you can make the trip to Arva to give them some encouragement, please do so.

U-14’s

The U-14’s play Castlerahan tonight (Tuesday) in the Div 1 Championship Final at 8.15pm.  After super victories over Ramor Utd & Cavan Gaels, this young side will be hoping to bring home the first championship of the season to the club.  After their earlier victories, they will be favourites for victory, but they will still need to deliver a repeat of their first-half performances from the earlier rounds to achieve victory.

Castlerahan may be underdogs, but they showed great character in snatching victory against a fancied Shercock side in the semi-final.  Pat Faulkner’s young side have trained very hard to reach this stage and have produced some thrilling football all through the year, and victory in this would cap things of perfectly.

I know it’s a bit late (and it’s a school night), but it’s not as if Championship Finals come along every day of the week, so go on, head down to Breffni and cheer the lads on!!

U-10’s

The U-10’s hosted their annual blitz last weekend with teams from Cavan, Monaghan, Meath & Down taking part.  The weather may have been a bit disappointing, but the little Stars have obviously had experience in the conditions throughout the Summer and won the blitz out.

All through the Summer, they have competed very well in the various blitzes and a big congratulations to all the players on the side.  Also, thanks to all the parents who were arranged in various aspects of organising the day.

MASTERS

From U-10’s to, well, over 10’s anyway!  Congratulations to Gabriel Patterson who scored the goal that secured victory for the Cavan Masters in their recent Shield victory against Antrim in Breffni Park.  After playing midfield for the Juniors in their Championship victory over Gowna earlier that day, Gabriel then went up to Breffni and repeated the trick with a second starring midfield role.  Twice in one day Bully, very impressive!!

CLASSIC CLIPS

Our 3rd classic match feature is coming soon (well, soonish!). Not to give too much away, but it will feature a famous Ulster Club Championship victory from the late 80’s. Again, any requests for this feature can be sent to kingscourt.stars@hotmail.com
