Tickets for the event are going on sale this week. On the playing field our weekend kicked off when our Junior Championship team travelled to Egan Park Forgney where we took on the home team in the Junior Championship 1st round.  The game was very competitive throughout with the home team having more success in front of goal early on. We were awarded a penalty at a crucial stage in the first half, which we were unable to convert. Forgney led on the half time scoreline of 2.4 to Dromard 0.3. Our team continued to play in a committed manner however it was Forgney who came out on top at the end on the score line 2.9 to 0.6.  Team and scorers:  Danny Pettit, Mark Murtagh, Kevin Murtagh, Thomas Conefrey, Alan McLoughlin, Jimmy Kiernan, Gerry Sheridan (0.1), Fergal Berry, Ronan Duffy, Enda Kiernan, Mick Kane (0.1), Niall Berry, John Gray, John McNaboe (0.3) 1 free, Padraic Duffy (0.1).  Subs used Tommy O Hare, Kevin Hourican, Padraic Farrell, James Conboy and Tommy Healy.  We play Ballymore in round 2 in Pairc Na Gael on Sunday next.  On Sunday our senior team took on St. Columba’s in round 2 of the senior championship played in Fr Mc Gee Park.  Heavy showers prior to throw in made for slippery ball and underfoot conditions.  Our opponents opened the scoring with a free.  We responded with a Francis Mc Gee free followed by a Cian Mimnagh point from play.  Points were exchanged by both sides leaving the sides level at half time at 6 pts apiece. We opened the second half scoring through a Padraic Martin point.  Things were tight for the early stages of the second half with no more than a point separating the sides at any stage.  However a well-taken James Martin goal broke the deadlock and we went on to hold off this very spirited opposition on the full time scoreline of Dromard 1.10 St Columba’s 0.9.  Team and scorers:  Damian Sheridan, Eugene McNaboe, Cathal Conefrey, David Pettit, Kevin Donohoe, John Sheridan, Kevin Donohoe, Noel Reynolds, Diarmuid Masterson (0.2), Peter Reynolds, Francis Mc Gee (0.5) 2 frees, 1 50, Padraic Martin (0.1), Peter Masterson, James Martin (1.1), Cian Mimnagh (0.2).  Subs used, Donal Sheridan, Bernard Sheridan, Enda McEntire.  We would like to extend our thanks to the Colmcille club for the organised way in which they staged this fixture and for the refreshments laid on after the game.  We play St. Columba’s in the Div 1 league in Derrycasson this Wednesday.  Our Intermediate team opened the championship campaign when we host Mostrim in the 1st round on Saturday evening next. You are again reminded that some of our young playing students are available for summer work. If there are any odd jobs that you need doing around the house such as painting, gardening, hedge trimming, turf rearing etc please contact chairman Joe Murphy (087 1340132) or secretary Gerry McCabe (087 2700531) who will put you in touch with one of the young lads that are available. You are also reminded that club jerseys are now available to purchase and can be ordered by completing an order form which is available in Corrigan’s Service Station and in Moyne Cross Stores.
