Senior Championship Semi-Final The Downs 0:10 Mullingar Shamrocks 2:8
On Sunday last we played the semi-final of the championship in Cusack Park, despite a good start by The Downs it was Shamrocks who went into an early lead and with the advantage  of a goal were ahead at half time 1:4 to 0:3. On the resumption The Downs scored three unanswered points to leave the minimum between the sides, against the run of play Shamrocks scored a fortuitous goal to put the scores 2:5 to 0:7.  Despite intense pressure The Downs could not get the goal to put to narrow the scores.
Team: Ciaran McCormack, Declan Lynam, Mark Dalton, Niall Nolan, Sean Cleary, Ben Hogan, Sean Loughlin, John Smyth, Brendan Murtagh, Greg Crowley, Tommy Cleary, Barry Conroy, Shane Power, Noel Molloy, Luke Folan. Subs Used: James Cleary, Stephen Devine, Sean O’Leary, Jack Hogan.

Under 14 (Amber)
Last Thursday evening we hosted our neighbours Kinnegad in the fourth round of the under 14 championship. This was a good game and the Downs got off to a good start. We created lots of chances and when the break came we were ahead by a single point. The second half saw both teams take good scores and in the end the game ended in a draw 2-8 to 1-11. It was a very positive performance by our lads and we continue to improve with each match.

Under 9’s /10’s
The under 9’s and 10’s travelled to the impressive facilities of Johnstownbridge on Saturday last to play Kildare side Ballyna. Both our teams performed very well against the home sides who are a combination of Johnstownbridge and Clogherinkoe. Thanks as always to those who travelled and assisted with transport.
This Saturday we host the Mullingar Area League under 10 blitz starting at 1030am. All players to be in The Downs at 10am. There are 6 clubs participating, each fielding 2 x 10 a-side teams – Mullingar Shamrocks, Shandonagh, St. Loman’s, Ballynacargy, St. Malachy’s / Ballinagore and ourselves.
