Under 10’s
We played our last NWL fixture in Multyfarnham on Tuesday night last. Well done to both teams for an entertaining game of football which finished all square. The under 10’s travelled to Athboy on Saturday morning last to play Meath side Clan na Gael. They had to produce their best display of the year to earn a share of the spoils with a very impressive home side. Thanks to everyone who travelled to Athboy including parents and guardians who provided transport.
The North Westmeath League blitz takes place in Tyrellspass on this Saturday September 4th. We are fielding 2 teams who will play one match each both starting at 130pm. All players to be in Tyrellspass at 1pm. Details will be confirmed by text message – please reply. Please check our fixture list at www.teamer.net which is updated regularly – there will be games every weekend until the season ends on October 2nd.
Senior Championship Quarter Final The Downs 0:15 Tubberclare 1:8
The Downs qualified for the semifinals with an impressive performance, The Downs went into an early lead and on 20 minutes were ahead 0:5 to 0:1. Just before the halftime whistle Tubberclare scored a goal to leave The Downs leading 0:8 to 1:2. On the resumption The Downs scored 6 unanswered points leading 0:14 to 1:2 at 20 minutes. Tubberclare attempted a comeback scoring 6 points in the final 10 minutes to reduce the difference. Adult Fitness Course
Adult fitness course will commence in our clubhouse on Monday 6th September. Professional trainers will run an 8 week fitness course twice weekly. Fee of €150 applies. For info call Tommy Kelly 0872949714.
Ladies Football
Results
Our Minor and Under 16 teams played this week, the minors losing narrowly in an exciting game with Kinnegad.
The under 16s travelled to Athlone where they secured both points to top division 1 and now play Mullingar Shamrocks in a semifinal on Thursday evening in Shamrocks. Under 14s play their semi-final on Tuesday 7th
