League Div 1: The Downs 2:5 Bunbrosna 0:10
At home on Tuesday evening in perfect football conditions we hosted league leaders Bunbrosna. Two first half goals were the platform for a win and securing two valuable points. Team: Ciaran McCormack, Mark Dalton, Declan Lynam, Greg Crowley, Joe Corroon, Stephen Cleary, Luke Folan, Brendan Murtagh, Sean Loughlin, Noel Molloy, Brendan Conroy, Tommy Cleary, Niall Folan, Stephen Devine. Subs used: Mark Conroy, Ben Hogan, Shane Power.
 
Under 10’s
Team Amber travelled to sunny Ballycomoyle on Saturday morning last to play the home side in the 4th round of the North Westmeath League. Our lads had to work very hard  over the 40 minutes to record a narrow victory over an impressive and resilient Ballycomoyle outfit. Team: Paul Flynn, Cian McCourt, Adam Smith, Shane Murtagh, Ryan Mannering, Gary Wynne, Oisin Raleigh, Luke Smith, Euan Lagan, Kevin O’Sullivan, Stephen Wynne, Matthew Cunningham, Eanna Burke, Eoin Mulreid. Team Black are scheduled to travel to Castletown Geoghegan on this Saturday morning 26th to play St Malachy’s Ballinagore. Team Amber are provisionally fixed to have a home match on Tuesday – details of all fixtures to be confirmed at training and by text. We urge parents / guardians to reply to text messages so we know who is available. We send congratulations and good luck to our players who are involved in various Community Games activities at this time.

Club Gear
Club Gear including Togs and Socks can be purchased or ordered at underage training on Fridays. New this year are football gloves with The Downs crest special introductory price €8 for underage and €12 for adult sizes. New polo’s, tee-shirts and wind-cheaters will be available shortly.
 
Walking Track
Our new Walking Track is now open for use. For insurance purposes each person who uses the walking track must be a member of The Downs GAA. Club.  Annual membership can be paid to any club officer.
 
Cake Sale
Monica, Martina and Patrica would like to thank everyone who supported their fundraising Cake Sale in The Downs, for Fighting Cancer Triathlon, which they took part on Saturday last.

Under 12         The Downs 2:9           Rochfordbridge 1:4
We travelled to Rochfordbridge on Tuesday last for our first game in phase 2 of the competition. When we met earlier in the competition Rochfordbridge gained a narrow win and started this game with a goal to give them an ideal start but The Downs stuck to the task and scored 1: 4 without reply and continued to play with great determination to record a win. On Thursday last we travelled to Kinnegad, missing a number of our older players. In a very competitive game in which the lead was continually changing The Downs finished the stronger and with late scores gained the two points. Team: Rachel Gerathy, Ursula Carley, Chloe Gaffney, Amy Dagg, Sarah McDermott, Allison Durey, Laura Wynn, Clara Thornton, Niamh Rowan, Lorraine Kelly, Niamh Staunton, Roisin Rose, Keelin Rowan, Sinead Gallagher, Kate Gallagher,  ( all of the girls who played are under age next year)
