We are continuing with our free text message service via TEAMER 51687 which we use to notify members regarding various club activities. If you wish to avail of this service, please text your name and number to Marc at 087 8362297. These messages are free to receive and a reply is not required. We currently have over 300 subscribers but would like to enhance it further to ensure all our supporters are aware of our activities and are notified when venues are changed or games cancelled etc

You can register to receive our free weekly newsletter email at our lotto website www.locallotto.ie – just search for The Downs. The newsletter is sent every Monday night and includes that night’s lotto results and club notes.

Bingo  continues every Friday at 8.30, come along and bring a friend for an enjoyable nights entertainment.

Results
 
The under 12’s completed phase one of the league on Wednesday evening last with a double victory away to Mullingar Shamrocks. The pitches in Springfield were in immaculate condition which allowed some great football to be played by all 4 teams despite the breeze. Phase 2 is expected to commence shortly with games set to continue every second Wednesday throughout the summer – details to be issued at training. The trip to Ferbane and Athlone goes ahead this Saturday departing at 10am – details to be confirmed at training. All queries to Marc @ 087 8362297.
 
League Div 1                The Downs 1:7             Mullingar 1:9
On Tuesday last we played Mullingar Shamrocks at home in a keenly contested  and entertaining game with very little separating the sides at any time, Shamrocks narrowly won in a very even game.
 
 
Underage Training
Underage training from under 6 to under 12  Friday evenings  from 6.30 to 7.30 .New players welcome .  You can register at any training evening 
 
Club Shop
The club shop is located upstairs in the clubhouse and will be open during Friday evening training for the season. Just arrived are youth kit bags priced at 20 euros. Also in stock are ‘Squareball’ tee-shirts in a unique club design and ideal for the beach this summer. Adult sizes at 20 euros are in stock and kids sizes at 15 euros can be ordered.
A reminder that crested football gloves are available at cost price. New delivery of azzurri windcheaters and polo shirts have just arrived.
 
Coffee Morning/Cake Sale

The Downs Ladies Football
Underage training for  under 6 to under 12 on Friday evenings 6.30 to 7.30 on If you haven’t registered, you can register in The Shop with Liz or any training night, remember you have to register to play.
Under 14s train on Mondays at 7. Under 16s, 18s and juniors train on Tuesday and Friday at 7.30. New members are welcome to come along for any age

Results
The under 12s continued their good run in phase one of the league with an entertaining game against Rochfordbridge on Tuesday last, well done to all the girls for excellent commitment to training and games.
The under 10s played a game against Mullingar Shamrocks on Sunday morning, despite the poor weather conditions the game was enjoyed by all.
 
Coaching Course
We are running a foundation level coaching course on Friday evening 17th and Saturday 18th .  We would encourage anyone with an interest in coaching to do the course and especially invite parents of our young players to take this opportunity to learn new skills and maybe help out the club in the future.
 
Fundraising
The Ladies Football are collecting bags of clothes as a fundraiser, so you can now de- clutter and help the club raise funds. Bags are available from any team coach or committee member or in The Shop.
Wishing a Roisin Scally and Aishling Egerton a speedy recovery from their recent illnesses  and to Emily O’Rourke who suffered a shoulder injury.
