Under 14 boys
The div 1 fixture v Kilbeggan St Joseph’s was postponed because of the Communty Games Sports Day and the div 2 game v Milltownpass was also cancelled because their pitch was unplayable. We expect both teams to have league fixtures this week. Good luck to our players on the U14 county development squad who participate in the Leinster tournament this weekend. 

Visit of London’s Dulwich Harps 
We are hosting the under 14 boys of Dulwich Harps and their team mentors for 3 nights as part of their irish tour. They will be staying with us on this Sat 25th, Sun 26th and Mon 27th May. Thankyou to those who have already kindly agreed to provide accommodation for the visitors. All players are now sorted for accommodation but we do need a few more beds for the team mentors. Contact Marc 087 83622967 if you can help. The visitors will have their own itinerary for during the day and will return around 8pm each evening. We will have a small welcoming reception for the visitors on this Saturday evening around 8pm in the clubhouse. We will play them in a U14 challenge on Monday evening at 7pm followed be presentations and refreshments in the clubhouse afterwards. All welcome. 
 
U12’s
The Downs were away to Kinnegad in the 2nd round of the Westmeath League on Wednesday night last.  The Amber team were pipped by a point in a very evenly contested game with a final score of 4-3 to 2-8.  Meanwhile the Black team game back from an early 4 goal deficit to take the spoils with a 1 point win on a final scoreline of 5-8 to 5-7.  Thanks to all of the players for their efforts and to the parents for supporting both teams.  The teams were as follows:  Amber Team included Cian McCourt, Jack Walsh, Cathal Dagg, Ben Harte, Nathan Lynott, Cormac Mullen, Donal Doherty, Gary Cleary, Liam Moran, David Smyth, Adam Smith, Jake Quinn, Evan Harte, & Alan Mooney.  The Black Team included Liam Murtagh, Adam Connelly, Owen Rathigan, Sean Power, Adam Connelly, Cian Flaherty, Gary Wynne, Oisin Raleigh, Anthony Moran, Kevin O’Sullivan, Owen Murray, Max Cassidy, Shane Murtagh, & Mark Nugent.
 
U13 Street League
The 1st round of the Down Club’s U13 Street League took place on Sunday evening.  Round 1 pitted the Downs against Kildare while Westmeath played Cork.  The Kildare team beat the Downs by a score of 8-11 to 5-7 in a great contest.  This result is under review with Mick Wynne scheduled to be up before the DRA to explain how he had an extra man on the pitch for 15 minutes.  In the second game Cork beat a under strength Westmeath team by 12-7 to 7-12.  The Cork team ran out to a strong lead in the 1st half but were outscored in the 2nd half and managed to hold on for a hard fought win   The teams were as follows

Round 2 of the Street League will take place on Sunday, May 26th, @ 5:30 pm with The Downs playing Cork and Westmeath playing Kildare.

The Downs National School in County Final
The very best of luck to The Downs NS boys football team who play in the Allianz Cumann na mBunscoil Div 2 Final on this Friday at 5pm vs Tang in Cusack Park. All support appreciated – wear the black and amber and make some noise ! 
Good luck also to all our other players playing for their schools in various finals this week.

Congratulations to Loreto College on winning the Leinster under 14 B final. The club had Grace Raleigh, Serena Wynn, Katie Heffernan, Niamh Nolan Amber Gilgan, Anna Murtagh and Shauna Conneely on the panel.
 
Underage Coaching
Underage training is on  Friday evenings 6.30 to 7.30 new players always welcome.
 
Registration is now due and can be paid to any coaches or in the shop reductions for families.
 
Clothes Collections
The Ladies Football are collecting bags of clothes as a fundraiser, so you can now de- clutter and help the club raise funds. Bags of clothes can be left with any team coach or committee member or in The Shop. Please ask family, neighbours, friend and co-workers to fill a bag.
