Senior Championship             The Downs 0:6           Maryland 1:8
On Saturday evening we played our first game of the championship in Cusack Park, The Downs started brightly and had the greater share of possession going into an early lead. Unfortunately against the run of play Maryland scored a goal to give them a life line going in at halftime,1:1 to 0:5.  On the resumption Maryland scored first to equalise the scores.  The Downs try as they might were unable to match the first half form and were having difficulty creating scoring opportunities only adding a point. Going into the final minutes a goal separated the sides but The Downs were unable to get the equaliser, in added time Maryland scored the final two points of the game and give them a flattering margin. On reflection if The Downs scored more in the first half the from numerous opportunities or  added a few more points in the second half we could have got result from the game. There were many positives from the game to build on for the rest of the championship. Team: Ciaran McCormack, Jack Hogan, Niall Nolan, , Conor Carley, Brendan Murtagh, Trevor McCormack, Barry Conroy, PJ Maguire, Niall Folan, Stephen Devine, Shane Power, Luke Loughlin, John Smyth, Luke Folan. Subs Used: Paul Shanley, Kevin Smullen, Shane Carroll.

Boys under 14’s:
Hard luck to our under 14’s boys who lost out to tournament favourites Athlone in the quarter final of Feile played in A.I.T. on Saturday morning last. Final score 3-13, 2-8. Panel: Trevor Martin, Jonathan Lynam, Dyan Hunt, Keith Carroll, Taylor Daly, Conor Gavin, Oisin Murphy, Ciaran Nolan (joint captain), Darragh Monaghan, Adam Gilbride, Max Rowan, Eanna Burke, Donal Coughlan, Ryan Moran, Mark McCann, Joseph Moran (joint captain), Jordan Smyth, Liam Faulkner, Tyrone Devine, Luke Smith, Paul Flynn, Matthew Cunningham, Stephen Wynne, Jack Carroll, David Keenaghan, Enda O’Rourke.
