Under 12
The under 12’s participated in the 9 aside Gowna Blitz in beautiful sunshine on Saturday last.
Split into 2 teams based on age, each side were placed in groups of 4. The under 11’s recorded victories over Ramor United of Cavan and Longford Slashers before losing out to Knockbride also of Cavan. The 2 victories earned them second place in the group and a spot in the Cup quarter finals. However, they had to give way to the under 12’s of St. Rynagh’s of Offaly with the extra year making the difference for the Banagher lads. So it was a case of 2 wins and 2 losses for the under 11’s who performed brilliantly throughout.
Our own under 12’s opened with a good win over Longford’s Northern Gaels before defeats to Summerhill of Meath and eventual winners Crosserlough of Cavan put them into the quater finals of the Plate. Aughnasheelin were their quarter final opponents and we had a slow start with the Leitrim lads opening up a large lead. However, the black and amber showed great determination after the break and got to within 2 points but just ran out of time.
Under 12 Panel: Enda O’Rourke, Keith Carroll, Taylor Daly, Alex Henry, Daragh Monaghan, Max Rowan, Donal Coughlan, Michael Drury, Mark McCann, Dylan Gavin.
Under 11 Panel: Luke Smith, Oisin Murphy, Stephen Wynne, Luke McGuire, Jonathan Lynam, Jack Carroll, Paul Flynn, Matthew Cunningham, Liam Faulkner, Euan Lagan, Oisin Raleigh. The lads were treated to some words of wisdom on the bus before they left from former Cavan footballer and All-Star winner Dermot McCabe. The Gowna man spoke about learning the skills, enjoying the games and having discipline at all times. He also spoke about learning from both victory and defeat and that if the lads continue to listen to their coaches and train with commitment and honesty then they would go on to play senior for club and county.

Under 16 Championship The Downs 5:14 Milltownpass 2:07
This was good performance from start to the final whistle. Shane Nugent in goals was steady throughout and made an excellent save after half time. The backs marked tightly and made the opposition work hard for their scores. The midfielders worked up and down the field providing support when needed, the forwards worked as a unit and all got on the scoreboard with Jake Cahill from wingback getting up for two points, Luke Loughlin proved accurate from both frees and play. Ian Martin scored the pick of the goals beating a number of defenders then shooting low to the corner of the net.
Team: Shane Nugent, Shane O’Rourke, Peter Murray, Paddy Duncan, Jake Cahill, Dean Moran, Eoin Moore, Dean Daly, Shane Raleigh, Ian Martin, Luke Loughlin, Sean Cullen, James Murtagh, Andrew Dalton, Naosan Moore. Subs: Shane Conroy, Jonathan Raleigh, Niall Mitchell.

The Downs scored an early goal on the resumption to get back into the game and in the final minute scored a goal to win by a point. This was the performance of year for this team well done to all the girls.

Under 14 The Downs 4:8 Moate 4:8
In a championship game in The Downs on Thursday The Downs and Moate served up a thrilling game with great skill and determination. At halftime Moate held a five point advantage, but The Downs reduced the lead and went into a goal lead with a quarter left, but Moate responded and went into the lead.
