Senior Championship             The Downs 0:9           Mullingar Shamrocks 0:15
On Saturday evening  in Cusack Park we took on our neighbours in the senior championship. Mullingar started  brighter and had 4 points before  The Downs raised a flag on the  15th minute. Shamrocks got two more points before The Downs added to their score, for the last ten minutes of the half it was all Shamrocks who finished the  half with 0:12 to  The Downs 0:2  who surely rued  their missed  scoring opportunities.  The second half saw a re-energised The Downs side who got the first four points of the half and out scored Shamrocks 0:7 to 0:3  for the second half . The second half performance showed the potential in the team and hopefully we can reproduce it in the remaining  games. Team: Ciaran McCormack, Brendan Flynn, Niall Murray, Cian Carthy, Conor Carley, Niall Nolan, Vincent Conneely, Noel Molloy, Mark Dalton, John Smyth, Barry Conroy, PJ Maguire, Luke Loughlin, Luke Folan, Shane Carroll. Subs Used: Brian Fitzpatrick.

Under 12’s
The lads travelled to Athlone on Wednesday evening last for the last round of the under 13 league. Led by captain Oisin Dowdall, the first half was well contested and both sides produced some decent football despite the slippery conditions. However, it was the unbeaten home side that stepped up a gear after the break and were comfortable winners at the final whistle. On Saturday last we participated in the annual Gowna tournament in County Cavan which attracted 24 clubs from various counties. This is always one of the highlights of our season and this year was no different. Good wins over Baileboro and Ardagh in the group stages put us up against the unbeaten host club Gowna to decide who would top the group. A thrilling game ended all square which left both sides tied at the top of the table. Thanks to impressive score taking in the earlier rounds, we went through as group winners on score difference and a second round tie against Skryne of Meath. In another enthralling encounter, the sides could not be seperated so extra time was required. Fair play to our lads who put in a brilliant extra time performance to overcome the Meath side and secure a place in the quarter finals against another Cavan side Mullahoran. Unfortunately it is here the journey ends as our lads had to give way to a superior Mullahoran team with the energy sapping extra time in the previous round probably taking its toll. Overall, this was a tremendous achievement by the lads and they deserve great credit for reaching the quarter finals and representing the black and amber with such pride and distinction. Captain for the day was Paul Flynn and his team mates were: Jack Carroll, Matthew Cunningham, Oisin Dowdall, Liam Faulkner, Jonathan Lynam, Luke Maguire, Ryan Mannering, Trevor Martin, Oisin Murphy, Stephen Wynne, Adam Conneely, Mark Conneely, Cathal Dagg, Nathan Lynott, Liam Moran, Shane Murtagh, Mark Nugent, Kevin O’Sullivan, Jake Quinn, Jack Walsh, Gary Wynne. Fear Uisce: Sean Flynn; Water Carriers: Serena and Ciara Wynne; Mascots: Rian Hogan  and Andrew Cunningham. Training continues on Fridays at 630pm and new players are always most welcome.
