Minor League                The Downs 4:10          Caulry 1:9

Last Friday evening we played caulry in our last minor league game. We won 4.10 to 1.09 in a competitive game giving us 7 wins from 7. This was a good team effort and despite being down a few of the more senior lads we were always in control. Jeff in goal gave a great display of high fielding and made a tremendous save late on. The Caulry goalie also made a save from Shane Carroll the first have that is well worth a mention. He somehow got his finger tips to a top corner shot. The backs were out in front and gave very little away. In midfield we were on top but could have covered back better. Our forwards linked well with Shane Carroll netting on 2 occasions. Dean Egerton with a very well taken goal and Danny Bergin got a great goal also. Luke and Kevin Smullen took good scores and our work rate in general was satisfactory for first day back after exams. We will need to get sharper and training is the way to do this. Championship is up next and we need to be ready. Well done lads on a good league campaign. Team Jeff Mc Cormick, Pat Duncan, Dean Moran, Aodain Boyhan, Shane Raleigh. Brendan Flynn. Dean Daly. PJ Maguire. Kevin Smullen. Ryan Briody. Shane Carroll. Cian Quinn. Luke Loughlin. Dean Egerton. Danny Bergin. Subs used. Finbar Thompson. Mark Kelly. Peter Murray. James Murtagh.

The second half continued with no more than a point separating the teams until The Downs scored a goal to endure the deserved win.
