Night at the Dogs
Our annual night at the dogs in on Saturday 3rd November, this is a great opportunity for a social night out for all the club members and families, with the busy times of games and coaching finished. Development Draw

On Sunday morning we suffered the heart break of a one point lose at the end of competitive and closely contested game. Scores were tied at halftime and the second half proved just as close. As the final whistle approached The Downs were a point ahead but Kinnegad scored two points in added time to win by the narrowest of margins. Team Kevin McGuire, Brendan Flynn, Niall Murray, Trevor McCormack, Cian Carty, Ben Hogan, Adam Price, PJ Maguire, Dean Clarke, Kevin Smullen, Dean Egerton, Luke Loughlin, Shane Carroll, Cathal Scally, Niall Folan. Referee Watch
It was a busy two weeks for Sean Carroll referring the drawn senior football final and also the  final of Celebrity Bainisteoir  well done to Sean on both games.

Bingo continues every Friday at 8.30, come along and brings a friend for an enjoyable night’s entertainment.
Congratulations to our neighbours Mullingar Shamrocks on their Championship win.

The Downs Ladies Football
 
Mary Wynne  Memorial Cup
On Saturday we ran the inaugural Mary Wynne  Memorial cup under 15 blitz, hosting Killucan, Kinnegad and Balyna Kildare. All game were very close and competitive and played in a sporting manner. The Downs and Kinnegad qualified for the final with The Downs eventually coming out on top to be the first name on the cup. Mary’s sisters Alice and Orla  presented the cup to team captain Laura Wynne.
We would like to thank all the teams who took part, the referees from all the clubs and our own Beth McGuire who made her referring debut and to everyone who helped out in the hall with hot tea and refreshments very welcome on the cold day.

Clothes
The Ladies Football are collecting bags of clothes as a fundraiser, so you can now de- clutter and help the club raise funds. Bags of clothes can be left with any team coach or committee member or in The Shop. Please ask family, neighbours, friend and co-workers to fill a bag.
