Senior Championship                         The Downs 0:8           Mullingar Shamrocks 2:12
On Sunday evening last we opened our championship campaign with a local derby game against Mullingar Shamrocks. Despite a good start with scoring opportunities  it was Mullingar Shamrocks who went into a two point lead, The Downs had to wait until the 13th minute until we raised a flag and then scored five points without replay to lead 0:5 to 0:2 on thirty minutes. In added time the games changed with Mullingar Shamrocks scoring 1:2 to finish the half 1:4  to 0:5 ahead. The Downs started the second half by scoring three points to Mullingar Shamrocks one to level the scores by five minutes, but unbelievably we failed to raise a flag for the remainder of the game . Team: Ciaran McCormack, Niall Nolan, Mark Dalton, Stephen Cleary, Jack Hogan, Greg Crowley, Ben Hogan, Brendan Murtagh, John Smyth, Shane Power, Barry Conroy, Luke Folan, Tommy Cleary, Ciaran Kiely, Noel Molloy. Sub used: Declan Lynam

Under 12s
The under 12’s travelled to the fine facilities of Trim GAA Club on Tuesday evening last for a double fixture against the home side. In what was a fine evening, the hard ground and big pitches didn’t deter the lads from playing some great football. At the final whistle, the spoils were shared with each club winning one game. Thanks to all the lads who travelled and a special word of appreciation to the parents who assisted with transport during this busy holiday period. Panel: Darragh Monaghan, Luke Maguire, Liam Faulkner, Eanna Burke, Stephen Wynne, Keith Carroll, Taylor Daly, Trevor Martin, Paul Flynn, Jonathan Lynam, Darren Shaw, Michael Drury, Mark McCann, Joseph Robson, Jack Carroll, Oisin Murphy, Ryan Mannering, Cathal Faulkner, Euan Lagan, Jordan Smyth, Michael McNamee, Dylan Gavin. There will probably be an challenge this Saturday – details to be issued by text, please reply. The next league fixture is scheduled for Wednesday 11th May away to Shandonagh @ 7pm.
