Under 12’s
The lads completed their phase one league campaign with a narrow aggregate victory at home to Ballynacargy on Tuesday 29th May last. Captained by Matthew Cunningham and Mark Conneely, our lads were pushed all the way by the understrength visitors with all 4 teams playing some great football. Thanks to referees Mick and Martin. We now await the draw and fixtures for phase 2 of the league which will commence in mid June.
On Saturday last, the under 12’s travelled to the prestigious Newry Blitz hosted by Mitchell’s GAC. With 40 teams competing from all over the north and east, this tournament has earned the reputation of ‘The Under 12 All Ireland’ and was played in glorious sunshine at the Derrylackagh Playing Fields. After being led in the opening parade by captains Ryan Mannering and Nathan Lynott, the lads got off to a shaky start losing out to Donegal side Ardara. However, successive victories over host side Newry Mitchell’s and another local side Downpatrick put us in contention for the knockout stages. A last round defeat to a very strong Ballyboden St Enda’s did not alter the final group placings so a quarter final spot in the John McAleavey Memorial Plate was secured.Up next was another Down side Bredagh and our lads started well but ended up going in level at the break. Bredagh stepped up another gear in the second half and went on to secure victory but our lads can be very proud of their performances in the knockout stages and indeed throughout the day. Well done to the all the lads who are a credit to their families and the club are delighted to be able to send a squad to such a high standard tournament and reach the knockout stages. Panel: Eanna Burke, Jack Carroll, Adam Conneely, Mark Conneely, Matthew Cunningham, Oisin Dowdall, Sean Dunne, Liam Faulkner, Paul Flynn, Jonathan Lynam, Nathan Lynott (capt), Luke Maguire, Ryan Mannering (capt), Trevor Martin, Oisin Murphy, Shane Murtagh, Jake Quinn, Oisin Raleigh, Adam Smith, Luke Smith, Gary Wynne, Stephen Wynne. Fear Uisce Sean Flynn. Check out the club website for photographs. Thanks to the club for subsidising the trip which was a memorable day for these young stars of the future. Training continues on Fridays at 630pm and new players are always welcome

Division 1 Under 14
Last week we played two Div 1 games previously postponed, on Thursday night we took on Miltownpass at home. Our lads started this game well and with some good team play and a lot of good passing movements we went into an early lead which we held onto for he first half. The second half Miltownpass came at us and scored some fine points to get within three points in the last quarter however our lads upped the tempo again and held onto a comfortable win in he end with a score line 6-7 to 2-10.
On Saturday we played St Lomans again at home, playing against the wind and using the ball very well we put early scores on the board and went to the break leading by a good margin, in the second half we kept the score board ticking over and finished the game comprehensive winners with a score line of 2-13 to 0-7. Thanks to Miltownpass and St Lomans for two sporting games. Panel for both games
