Club Notes from week ending August 17th

November 8, 2018

Division 1 League – Round 8: Dromard 1-9 Colmcille 0-12

We produced some fantastic football for the first 25 minutes of this game with fine scores from JP Reilly, Paul Mckeon, Tommy Doyle, Declan Farrell and Declan Reilly. However, after leading by 8 points at the break, we failed to push on in the second half playing against the breeze and let Dromard back into the game to snatch a draw.

Line-out
G Tonra, O McGivney, N Farrell, P Murtagh, B Brady, G Murtagh, F Kavanagh, E Farrell, D C Reilly (0-1), JP Reilly (0-4), D S Reilly, P McKeon (0-3), D McKeon, D Farrell (0-2), T Doyle (0-2).

Division 3B Final The Division 3 team lost to neighbours Dromard in the league final on a score of 0-13 to 0-11. We lead at half time by one point (0-6 0-7) with scores from P Brady, M McNerney (1), N Hudson. In the second half, Dromard’s faster forward line caused us trouble and pointed some fine scores. Missed goal chances were to prove costly in the end. As tensions rose, the game turned nasty near the finish with both teams engaging in a free for all brawl that resulted in Paddy McGahern and Paul McGee receiving a red card each.

Line-out
Francis Heslin, Killian Reilly, Francie Mulligan, Anthony Reilly, Colin Kiernan, Dermot Kiernan, Mattie Kavanagh, Andrew McKeon, Kevin Farrell, Paddy McGauran, Gabriel Reilly, Niall Hudson, Philip Brady, Peter Darcy, Marty McNerney Subs Used: Michael Kilbride, Declan Smith.

There will be a meeting of the executive in the Clubrooms on this Thursday night at 8pm. All members are asked to be in attendance.

Our minor amalgamation lost out to Wolfe Tones on Friday last in the B championship quarter final. Our U/14 amalgamation Colmcille/Clonbroney lost to Northern Gaels in the A championship quarter final by just one point. Our U/12’s played in a tournament against Dromard on Thursday evening last in Derrycasson and we lost in this game also, unfortunately we were missing a few of our key players. Hard luck to Colmcille who lost out to Dromard in the Division 3B final on Saturday last. Our seniors drew with Dromard in the Division one league on Sunday last. We wish our seniors the best of luck on Sunday next when they are due to play St. Mary’s in the next round of the league.

The club extends its sympathies to the Kiernan family on the death of Jimmy Kiernen, Rosduff, to John Keogh, Cleenrath on the death of his mother and to the families of Anna Daly (nee McNerney), Tullamore who died recently and to the McNally family on the sudden death of Michael McNally, Clonback.
