Club Notes from week ending July 13th

Senior

Well done to our junior team who defeated a very good Moydow Harpers team at the weekend. Final score Colmcille 0-10 Moydow 1-4. Colmcille have now reached the quarter-finals and we wish them continued success. Team: Ali McGahern, Anthony Reilly, Francis Mulligan, Killian Reilly, Mattie Kavanagh, Dermot Kiernan, Colin Kiernan, Peter Darcy, Andrew McKeon, TJ Reilly, Gabriel Reilly, Brian Hudson, Michael Kilbride, Paddy McGahern, Declan Smith. Subs used: Kevin Farrell, Marty McNerney. Activities in connection with the official re-opening of Fr. McGee Memorial Park are as follows – 1. Car treasure hunt on Saturday, 2 August will start and finish at Fr. McGee Park. 2. A special Mass for the re-opening will be celebrated in Colmcille Church on Sunday, 3 August at 9.30am. 3. The official re-opening of the pitch will commence at 12.30pm on Sunday 3 August with an U-14 match followed by ladies, Junior and senior match between Colmcille and Fr. Manning Gaels. There will be a fun day for all the family. More details later. Numbers drawn in the lotto were 2, 10, 22, 29. No jackpot winner. 30 euro to Rose Smith, Moyne; Caroline Doyle and Padraig Murtagh, Ann Gill, Ballinamuck; Cathal Monaghan, Edgeworthstown; Rosie Sexton, Aughnacliffe. This week the lotto will be held in Dolan’s for a jackpot of 5,000 euro. Team 2 on duty – Kieran McCabe, Francie Mulligan, Declan Reilly. All members of the executive are asked to be in attendance at the clubhouse on Tuesday, 29 July at 9.30pm to make arrangements for the re-opening of Fr. McGee Park.

MINOR

Our U/14’s had a good win over Shannon Gaels in the U/14 B Championship Quarter-Final on Sunday evening last in the Park. Our U/12’s are due to play a game on Monday evening the 14th in Carrickedmond in the fun league and results of this next week. Our juvenile amalgamation are due to play a game against Kenagh in the Championship on Thursday evening 17th, players please check fixtures for details. Training continues for all levels as arranged by their managers.  Congrats to our seniors who had a good win in the Junior Championship over Moydow on Friday evening last. We wish our seniors the best of luck on Friday evening next in the final of the Bertie Allen Cup when they play Ballymahon. We would also like to wish our lads and the whole Longford squad the best of luck on Saturday next when they play Laois in the next round of the senior championship.


The club extends its sincere sympathy to the Donohoe family, Aughakine on the recent death of Margaret, R.I.P.
