Club notes w/e 31/8/08

The senior team played Castleconnor in the quarter final of the senior championship in Enniscrone on Saturday night. Played in excellent conditions Coolera Standhill started brightly and went into a three point lead with points from Alan Costello, Colm Mullen and Kieran Quinn, Castleconnor came back into the game and scored three unanswered points to level the game. Coolera Strandhill finished the half strongly with two points and a goal by Alan Costello to go in to the break with a five point lead. The second half was tight throughout with both teams exchanging scores with three points for Coolera Strandhill coming from the boot of Alan Costello. Castlecoonor threw everything at Coolera Strandhill in order to try and close the gap but our defence held out strong. At the final whistle Coolera Strandhill ran out five point winners on a score of 1-8 to 0-6. Team was C. O’Mahony, E. Mitchell, K. Cooney, R. Doyle, L. Bree, T. Waters, K. O’Neill, K. Quinn, N. Next Saturday in Tubbercurry at 4.30pm our minor boys footballers play Calry/St. Joseph’s in the ‘A’ championship semi final. This team has preogressed well all season to reach this stage and we wish them well in their quest to make the final. Club supporters are urged to attend to cheer the lads on.
 
On Sunday afternoon the senior hurlers played Naomh Eoin in the senior hurling championship. Coolera Strandhill ran out one point winners on a score of 4-10 to 4-9. Team was G. Cadden, C. Scanlon, M. McDermott, C. Burns, J. Porter, D. Sheridan, D. Bergin, N. Cadden, K. Cawley, C. Gillen, C. Brennan, D. Cassidy, B. Henry, L. Cadden and D. Tobin.
 
The numbers drawn in the lotto were 16, 25, 26, and 30. There was no winner of the jackpot. There were two match three winners of 50 euro, Seamus Mc Goldrick, Strandhill and Cyril Meehan, Strandhill. Next weeks draw is worth 6100 euro and will take place in The Strand. Sean Quinn’s team is on duty.
