On Sunday last, the people from Colmcille flocked to Dr Cullen Park, Carlow to watch Colmcille compete in the AIB All Ireland Club Championship for the very first time. The Colmcille supporters made up the majority of the 2000 in attendance and provided great colour and support in the damp and wet conditions. The game ended in a draw (Carlow 2-4, Colmcille 0-10). It was a game that we dominated and should have won. If it were not for a few ‘soft’ goals from Eire Og and some missed scores from Colmcille, we would be facing Rhode (Offaly) in the Leinster Semi Final. After conceding the two goals in the first half against the run of play, it was a fantastic effort to keep Eire Og scoreless for the rest of normal time. Gavin Tonra pulled of a fantastic save from a penalty in extra time and Paul Mc Keon had a chance at the end to win the game, but his free hit the post.
