Colmcille GFC Notes

November 8, 2018

Firstly we must congratulate Michelle Farrell who was recently named Leinster Young Player of the Year at the Recent O’Neill’s/TG4 All Star Awards. This is a remarkable achievement and tops off a great year for Michelle and the ladies club who won the intermediate championship this year, following on from last years great success. We wish Michelle continued success on the football and soccer playing fields.

The club dinner dance will take place on Saturday 10th December in the Breffni Arms Hotel, Arva. This is being run jointly between the senior and ladies club and will honour the intermediate team of 1986 that won the championship and returned the club to senior ranks. The ladies club will honour the team that won last year’s junior county championship, Leinster league and this year’s intermediate championship. Music on the night will be by the Dance On band. There are a very limited number of tickets remaining so anyone interested in attending should contact Myles Reilly, Aine Brady, Marie O’Reilly Keenan, Caroline Doyle or Ali McKeon as soon as possible. Tickets are also available by contacting John Reilly at secretary@colmcille.longford.gaa.ie.

The U21 amalgamation team were defeated by Granard/Ballymore in the championship on Sunday last. They will now take on Southern Gaels next Sunday 20th November in McGann Park at 12.30pm.

The club A.G.M. takes place on 4th December. Anyone who wants a nomination paper should contact John Reilly as soon as possible.

The club would like to thank all who supported the comedy night last Friday night. The event was a huge success and we thank the Cannaboe Liuidramans and Sean O Suilleabháin for bringing their fantastic show to Colmcille and splitting the proceeds with the senior club. The gang are raising funds for Ballinamore GFC and are bringing their original show to halls around the country. It is not to be missed stuff. We also thank the community centre committee for the use of the facility and congratulate them on their efforts in updating the facilities available.

We would like to thank all those who supported the recent church gate collection in Purth.

There was no winner of the November 6th lotto draw. Numbers drawn were: 8, 9, 17 and 28. €25 winners were: Bernadette Reilly, Adrian Lennon, John J. Kiernan and Angela and Bernie Hudson. The jackpot now stands at €1,800. Envelopes are available in all the usual outlets.
