Colmcille GFC Notes

November 8, 2018

The senior team continued their championship campaign with a must win game against Dromard. The lads rose to the occasion magnificently, putting in their best performance of the year. The lads played the game at a blistering pace and Dromard could not match the tempo. Colmcille were 9 points up at one point but a few fortunate goals for Dromard flattered the final score line. We won the game by 3 points and recorded a vital win in the group stages of the championship. The final score line was 1-10 to 2-04. Team v. Dromard: M. Kiernan, P. Murtagh, N. Farrell, O. McGivney, F. Kavanagh, G. Murtagh, E, Farrell, J.P. Reilly, B. McKeon, N. Brady, P. McKeon, B. McCabe, D. Farrell, T. Doyle. Sub used: C. Kiernan. The lads will continue with their campaign against Rathcline next Saturday in Allen Park at 6.30pm.
A massive Barn Dance will take place next Saturday, 30th July, in the Glenview. There will be live music by Cajun Country, a rodeo bull, sumo wrestler suits and a barbeque on what promises to be a fantastic night of fun and craic.
There was no winner of the July 17th lotto draw. Numbers drawn were: 6, 15, 20 and 25. Lucky dip winners were: Paddy Lynch, Bernadette Reilly, Pat Farley and Jackie Flanagan.
The lotto jackpot is now nearing a massive €10,000. Be sure to be in with a chance to win big by filling in an envelope at any of the usual local outlets. Yearly or half yearly subscriptions can be purchased by contacting John Reilly or any executive member.
The ladies club are teaming up with Breast Cancer Ireland and Textile Recycling Ltd. to carry out a collection of used clothes in the area. Every household in the area should have received a pack containing two bags and a letter by the time your notes are printed. If anybody has not received this pack they can contact any member of the ladies club or phone 0868705062. A member of the ladies club will return to each house to pick up these bags on Saturday next 30th July. All contributions will be greatly appreciated.
The rescheduled 12K Lake view walk took place recently and it was a great success. Many thanks to all who took part.
Congratulations to the U-13 team who won their league semi final and are now in the final.
Finally, the club thanks all those who helped in preparing McGee Park for the championship match between Killoe and Granard. Thanks also to all those who were stewards on the day.
