Colmcille GFC Notes

November 8, 2018

Huge congratulations must go to the Colmcille Ladies team who defeated the Louth champions, St. Machtas, on Sunday last to book their place in the Leinster semi final. It was a very close game but the girls showed great character to emerge victorious on a score line of 4-12 to 3-13. We wish them and their mentors the very best in the Leinster semi final which will take place next weekend.

We would like to thank all the stewards for their efforts on the day. Thanks also to Mary Mc Keon who provided dinners in the community centre, all those who prepared sandwiches and to everyone who helped out in any way. The effort made by all is very much appreciated.

The Division 1 team also had a good win on Saturday last in Higginstown against St. Mary’s. They were comfortable winners, notching up 2-8 against St. Mary’s 0-7. The next Div.1 game will be against Clonguish in Allen Park on Wednesday 6th Oct at 8.30pm.

A reminder to keep the October Bank Holiday weekend free for a few days of great craic. Firstly on Saturday 23rd Colmcille’s Got Talent will take place. This event promises to be hugely entertaining so we invite all the local talent to get involved. All those interested in taking part can contact Marie Keenan on 087 9032887 or Colm Ginty on 087 9912026. On Sunday the 24th there will be bingo in the marquee with some excellent prizes on offer. That will be followed by music and dancing with the Dance on Band later that night. It promises to be a great weekend’s entertainment so don’t miss out.
