Colmcille GFC notes

November 8, 2018

In last week’s piece about the function for Pearse Daly I omitted the names of Myles Reilly, Mary and Michael Francis Mc Keon and Karl Bleakley. The immense contribution of Myles, Mary, Michael Francis and Karl cannot be over looked and I apologise for their exclusion last week.

The club would like to wish all those taking part in State Exams over the coming weeks the very best of luck. We also want to wish Trisha Hourican the best of luck during her travels to the U.S.A. Finally best of luck to Áine O’ Reilly and the Longford Ladies u-14 team who are playing in the All Ireland Final in Mullahoran.

Congratulations to Nathan Brady who won a Gold Medal in the Community Games National Competition in the Solo Singing section.

The GAA will shortly produce personalised 2010 membership cards with
each member’s name, club, county and membership number. To check if you are on the list see the Club website or contact the Secretary
(secretary.colmcille.longford@gaa.ie, 0860724903 or 0862238543) before
June 11th. Membership for minors is free and for adults is 20 euro.

In future years these cards will form part of a loyalty reward scheme,
with ticket priority for big games given to people who have gained credits on their cards by
attending games throughout the year.

It was a week of mixed fortunes on the playing field. The Div. 1 team started with a two point victory over Fr. Manning Gaels on Wednesday 2nd June (1-14 to 2-9). Unfortunately this was followed by defeat to Abbeylara. We lost out on a score line of 4-6 to 0-13 which was a harsh result. The Div. 5A team scored a two goal victory over Fr. Manning Gaels on Friday 4th June. The final score was 2-7 to 0-7.

Our Div. 5A team take on Abbeylara in Oliver Lynch Park on Wednesday 9th June at 8pm while on Friday 11th at 8:15 the Div.1 team will play St. Patricks Ardagh in Fr. Mc Gee Park. Finally on Sunday 13th the Div. 5A team will entertain Longford Slashers in Fr. Mc Gee Park. The time for this match has yet to be decided.

There was no winner of the May 31st Lotto Draw (21, 26, 15, 18) of €4100. Lucky Dip winners were Vonnie Sheridan, Aughadowry, Sean Reilly, Arva C/O Nellie Gormley, Killian Reilly, Cunareen and Pauric Mulfaul, Gowna.

Next week’s lotto draw (13th June) takes place Reilly’s and team 4 are on duty: Francie Reilly, John Flanagan and Andrew Mc Keon.
