Corofin GAA Club Notes

The fundraising ‘A Night at the Dogs’, has been rescheduled for next Friday 31 August, in Galway Greyhound Stadium. Tickets cost only €10 and are available from any committee member or player. Busses will be available from Corofin and Belclare on the night – advance booking necessary.

The draw for All-Ireland hurling tickets will take place next Monday night. The draw is open to all fully paid-up members. Those interested in being included in the draw should contact the club secretary, Fintan Forde by 6.00 pm on Monday, either by text ( 087-2386830 ) or email (secretary.corofin.galway@gaa.ie).

The seniors defeated Naomh Anna-Leitir Mór in a league game played in Lettermore on Sunday 26 August on a scoreline of 2-13 to 0-7.

The seniors play Mountbellew/Moylough in the John Dunne Cup on Tuesday 28 August at 8.30 pm in Corofin.
The senior team also play in the next round of the league against Milltown on Saturday 1 September at 6.30 pm in Corofin.

The intermediate team play a league game against Ballinasloe on Saturday 1 September at 6.30 pm in Ballinasloe.

The North Minor A League Semi-Final in which Corofin play Claregalway has been refixed for Friday 7 September at 6.30 pm in Claregalway with referee: G Daly.

In the under 16 championship Corofin play Tuam Stars on Tuesday 28 August at 7.00 pm in Tuam Stadium.

U-6 and U-8 training is changed this week to Corofin football pitch at 10.00 am as the Kevin Killeen tournament is on in Belclare.

The Kevin Killeen tournament takes place this Saturday 1 September starting at 10.00 am in Belclare. There are 6 teams participating in the tournament so come along and support what should be an enjoyable sporting tournament.

Sincere thanks to all who helped out with the bag packing at Marks & Spencer last weekend in aid of the club. The club offers a special word of thanks to Patricia Langan for organising this event.

The club offers its sympathy to the family of the late Laurence (Laurie) Newell, RIP, from Sylane, a lifelong supporter of the club, who died last week. We also sympathise with the family of Jarlath Treacy Senior, (RIP), of Claretuam, who died on Sunday.

Numbers drawn this week were 5, 14, 17, 26. There was no winner of the jackpot and three match threes, Brenda Rabbitte, Donal Keane and Shane Monaghan. Next week’s jackpot is €2,300 and the draw takes place in the Cellar Bar, Tuam.
