NO JOY FOR CROTTA SENIOR HURLERS:
The Crotta Senior hurlers interest in this year's A.I.B County Championship came to an end at Austin Stacks Park, Tralee on Saturday 4th September, when they  lost to Lixnaw on the 1-11 to 0-10 score-line. Steven Power was first to add his name to the Lixnawscore sheet in the opening minutes and Shane Nolan cancelled the advantage from the puck out. Nolan added another shortly afterwards and a Tom Cronin effort from a Cyril Lynch clearance split the Lixnaw defence and Cronin pointed. James Flahery pointed to pullone back for Lixnaw and was unlucky in their next attempt as a Fergus Fitzmaurice, Pat Crorridan effort to Flahery hit the side netting. Andrew Keane pointed from 90 metres to give Crotta a 4 point advantage at the end of the first quarter, Crotta 0-6 Lixnaw0-2. Both Steven Power and Cillian Fitzmaurice then pointed from play and James Flaherty waltzed through the Crotta defence to raise the green flag and upped their game limiting Crotta to a single score from a Shane Nolan point to lead by 2 at the intervalbreak. Lixnaw 1-06 Crotta 0-07.
James Flahery pointed from a free to give Lixnaw a 3 point margin but in the next passage of play Jonathan Caffrey linked up with Sean Weir who blasted the ball low and hard and beat Lixnaw's keeper Martin Stackpoole to level the game with a well drilled shot.3 further points from Flaherty showed Lixnaw's dominance on the game, but a dangerous lead as Shane Nolan went low and hard from a 20 meter free and that was cleared by Tom Brosnan. At the end of the third quarter Lixnaw ahead by 4. 1-11 to 1-07. In the 18thminute Lixnaw were reduced to 14 men and in the following minutes Andrew Keane and Nolan reduced the margin to 2. With 5 remaining on the clock, Crotta will rue the missed chances as they had possession and failed to convert from 4 attacks and the man of thematch James Flaherty had his last score in injury time and Ian McCarthy had Crotta's last effort and Lixnaw now have a semi final spot against the defending champions Kilmoyley. Lixnaw 1-12 Crotta 1-10
