Cuala, Castleknock and Clanna Gael advance in Leinster

November 8, 2018

Cuala got their Leinster IFC off to a winning start when they defeated St Mary’s of Longford 0-11 to 0-7 in O’Toole Park on Sunday.
In difficult underfoot conditions it was never going to be a high-scoring duel but the hard-word and pace of Mick FItzsimons caused problems for the Mary’s defence as the Dalkey side led 0-5 to 0-3 at half-time.
The Dublin intermediate champions held the upperhand in the second half with the accuracy of Niall Carthy and Conor O’Brien telling in this victory while Mark Schutte did well in defence.

In the Leinster JFC Castleknock overwhelmed Kilmacanogue of Wicklow 3-17 to 0-5 in St Peregrine’s on Sunday.
The Dublin 15 side were in a different division to their opponents with the likes of Thomas Corcoran, Shane Boland, Jamie Tunney doing well.
Cathal Daly scored Castleknock’s first goal in the opening half and they never looked back with Ciaran Kilkenny kicking some fine long-range points in the second period.

Clanna Gael Fontenoy fought back from six points in arrears at half-time, 1-6 to 0-3, to defeat Killavilla of Offaly 1-12 to 1-9 after extra-time in their Leinster Special JH Competition on Sunday afternoon in O’Toole Park.
Tom Russell’s goal early in the second half was the catalyst for their victory. They progress to face Sallins in the semi-final.
