Cul Redz- Edenderry Credit Union Presentation

November 8, 2018

Saturday 3rd of September was an important day for Edenderry GAA and the Club’s Coaching Nursery – CÚL REDZ – With only a few weeks of the 2011 programme remaining and the children returning to school the enthusiasm has not waned and both the parents and children should be thanked for attending in such large numbers again this week.  A total of 109 children received coaching this week and to their surprise they got a really special treat.  Fresh from a great victory on Friday evening Edenderry Senior Captain and Offaly midfielder Richie Dalton arrived with his County Colleagues Sean Pender and Derek Kelly to help with the coaching.  Also there to lend a hand was Offaly Ladies and Edenderry Senior Captain Sandra Blong, victorious U16 Ladies Captain Orla Kelly and a host of the Senior Panel including Stephen Guing, Mark Young, Dan Nolan, Keith McGuinness.  For the CÚL REDZ with Kildare links Kildare Centre Forward Eoghan O’Flaherty came along too and CÚL REDZ Mark Byrne, Jake Connolly & Sean Lawless particularly enjoyed his presence with Jake getting his Kildare jersey signed all the lads getting an opportunity to get their picture taken with the Lily white star.  The Ladies stars were much part of the morning and the young girls were proud of their older colleagues who are exemplary role models.  The Club would like to thank all of players for coming along to support the day and lend a hand to our own brilliant coaches.  The children certainly appreciated it and to see their excitement was very uplifting for all involved.

At the end of the Session Club Chairman Colm Cummins spoke about the fantastic success of the CÚL REDZ Programme and thanked all of the coaches and parents involved.  Importantly for the day that was in it Colm thanked EDENDERRY CREDIT UNION for their fantastic support and Paddy Murray from Edenderry Credit Union was on hand to help the County Players present each of the CÚL REDZ with their very own Edenderry Credit Union Sponsored CÚL REDZ T-Shirt, boys and girls editions.  Robert Smith and Darren Nolan were on hand to capture some great photographs, all of which can be found on the club website and printed elsewhere in the paper.  Colm also thanked the parents for encouraging their children to play Gaelic Games, for their support of the programme and the upcoming Sponsored Walk.  Willy Forde was also thanked for all of his hard work and for providing the much appreciated refreshments post each session.  Willy ‘Ciúnas’ Forde also took the opportunity to thank all of the coaches and in particular our younger coaches that got involved in 2011.  Around 15 teenagers have attended each and every Saturday to help with the administration of the programme, to get involved in the coaching and to help with the refreshments.  The Club presented each of the teenagers with a custom made CÚL REDZ Hoodie for all of their help and they are a credit to their Club and Families for their diligence and commitment.

With only two coaching session remaining on the 10th & 17th, followed by the walk on the 24th and the games Vs. Johnstownbridge on the 1st of Oct the children will get many opportunities to wear their new T-Shirts.
