Declan O Dwyer comes on for the Dubs

November 8, 2018

DUBLIN 6-30 LIMERICK 2-11
Dublin did what they had to do to preserve their NHL Division 1 status in emphatic style at Parnell Park on Sunday afternoon.
The prospect of hurling outside the league top-flight never materialised as they outclassed the Shannonsiders from start to finish.
It was important that Dublin settled quickly and this they did with points from Peter Kelly and Simon Lambert and as the half wore on Dublin did not let up with Johnny McCaffrey and Shane Durkin driving their side on from midfield.
The freetaking of Alan McCrabbe punished any indiscretions by the Limerick rearguard while David OCallaghan poised problems for their defence.
Liam Rushe became more influential towards the close of the half as Dublin blitzed their opponents to open up a 0-20 to 0-8 interval lead.
Nine minutes into the second half Limerick were reduced to 14 when James OBrien was red-carded but despite their numerial inferiority Limerick goaled in the 49th minute and two minutes later Paudie McNamara had a penalty saved by Ronan Fallon.
Dublin reacted by scoring four goals in-a-row between the 18th and 22nd minute of the second half with David OCallaghan on target twice, Shane Ryan and John Kelly to move 4-26 to 1-10 clear.
At this stage it was total target practice while at the other end Gary Maguire showed excellent alertness and reflexes any time Limerick threatened to breack the Dublin cover.
