A brilliant goal from Mick Egan was the all important score as it came near the end and gave Ballycumber a pair of valuable league points. The scoring was tight all through being level at 8 points each at half time. Rhode did open a three point gap on a couple of occasions but were pulled back to two points as the game entered its final minutes. A great passing movement involving at least six players ended with midfielder Mick Egan drilling a shot into the top of the net. Despite three minutes of extra time Ballycumber held out for the win which on the evidence of the match was well deserved. It must be acknowledged that Rhode were short a number of inter county players but Ballycumber were also short important players.
