November 8, 2018

DUBLIN 2-19 DUBLIN All STARS 2-13

Dublin’s new recruit, former Tipperary senior Ryan O’Dwyer, scored three points on his debut with the Blues as Anthony Daly’s side defeated the Evening Herald/Dublin Bus Dubs Stars in an entertaining games at Russell Park on Saturday afternoon.

Howevever, the top scoring award went to Ballyboden St Enda’s Niall McMorrow’s was individual tally of 2-3 steered Dublin to a well-deserved victory.

“Ryan’s a hardy boy,” noted Dublin manager, Anthony Daly afterwards when questioned about his new recruit. “You can’t buy the kind of qualities he brings to the occasion.

“He won’t be found wanting. He’s a good one alright. I saw a lot of him when he was a young lad, coming up through the grades at minor and U-21 level.”

“We picked up a few injuries. Unbelievable on our first day out, but I suppose that proves it was a full-blooded game.”

Dublin started brilliantly and led by ten points inside the opening twenty minutes and by 1-12 to 1-5 at the break with Cuala’s John Sheanon doing well at wing-back but in the second half the Dubs Stars rallied impressively to make a game of it and but for some great reflexes by Dublin keeper Finn McGarry the end result would have been even closer.
