On Monday night in perfect conditions on a beautifully manicured Pairc Uí Chinneide pitch at Killeagh we took on the home side in the quarter final of the Abernethy Cup – East Cork Club Senior Hurling Competition. This was a great game of hurling. From the start, with the aid of a crosswind we were well on top and hurling well all over the field. The pace of our hurling caught Killeagh unawares. A snap goal from Jerome helped us to  a 1-2 to 0-1 lead after ten minutes. A beautiful wristy, overhead pull by Barry Hazelwood gave us our second goal and though Killeagh responded we were 2-6 to 0-5 ahead at the break. The second half was closer. Killeagh scored a goal and came within 3 points of us. We finished well however and held on to win by 2-11 to 1-9. We now meet Erins Own in the semi final of this competition with Sarsfields already through to the final.
