The East Kerry Senior League game between Rathmore and Dr Crokes got underway with a bang when Rathmore’s Donal Casey struck for goal within the first 5 minutes. Dr Crokes responded with 2 points before Michael O’Riordan increased Rathmore’s lead back to 2 points. Dr Crokes through Jamie Doolan and the impressive Brian Looney scored 3 unanswered points to hit the lead and was followed by Doolan’s goal in the 26th minute to stretch the gap further. Rathmore responded in the last 3 minutes of the half with 3 points of their own to leave the minimum between the sides at the half. Michael A. Kelleher pointed from Rathmore in the 2nd minute to tie the game at 1-05. Rathmore tired as the game wore on and Dr Crokes made the best of the additional possession with 2 further points from Looney and Doolan respectively with George O’Keeffe’s point Rathmore’s only score in 20 minutes. Ambrose O’Donovan broke through the Rathmore defence before the Rathmore keeper Jamie Cooper turned his shot around the post. Looney converted the resulting 45 before O’Donovan finished off the Crokes scoring. Michael O’Riordan tacked on a final score for Rathmore from a free before James O’Sullivan blew the final whistle to end the game with Dr Crokes sealing a 4 point win on a scoreline of Rathmore 1-07 Dr Crokes 1-11. The win sends Dr Crokes through to the East Kerry Senior league final.
