Eddie Forde to receive Award for Outstanding Service to Carlow GAA

Famous for his hurling skills having played along with brother Seamus for a very good Hacketstown hurling team which reached a couple of county finals in the 1950s, Eddie was initially appointed as Youth Officer for Clonmore GFC in 1977 and later became Secretary of the Juvenile club for ten years. Eddie, along with Tommy Kehoe among others, transformed the Juvenile club into one of the most vibrant in the county and laid the foundations for many championship successes in the eighties and nineties. Chairman of Clonmore GFC from 1991 to 1997, Eddie served in various capacities with the club and was a selector with the Championship winning Minor & U-21 teams in 1991 & 92. Won Setanta Award in Carlow Sports Awards in 1980 and has served as Chairman of the County GAA Publications Committee. Currently an Honorary President of Clonmore GFC and still actively involved on the Executive Committee, Eddie received an aoutstanding service award from the club in 2007.

 

Well done Eddie on this well deserved recognition for a lifetime of dedicated service to club and county.
