All-Ireland ‘A’ Colleges Semi-Final

Well done St Mary’s Secondary School on their marvellous victory over St Coleman’s of Claremorris in the All Ireland ‘A’ Colleges semi final last Sunday at Pearse Park, Longford. On the panel from club were Stuart Cullen, Shane Forde, Philip Farrell, Stephen Guing, Mark Young, Derek Kelly, Peter O’Neill and James Mackey.
St Mary’s will face Colaiste na Sceilge from Kerry in the All Ireland Final on 11th April. At time of writing, a throw-in time and venue have still to be decided.



Division 3 Hurling League

Edenderry hurlers received a walkover from Belmont last Sunday, as they were unable to field a team.



Bord Na nOg Sports Quiz

Unfortunately due to a poor response the Sports Quiz on April 3rd has been cancelled. It is hoped to run one later in the year. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.



Fixture

This Friday 3rd April, Edenderry Senior Footballers will travel to Geashill to play Raheen at 7.30pm in Division 2 of the football league.



Under 8 Football

Under 8 football and enrolment for Fr McWey Leagues starts outdoor on Friday 3rd April in the Church field at 7pm, and will continue every Friday (except Good Friday). Phone 086-3915443.



Under 10 Football

This Friday 3rd April, the under 10 footballers will commence training in Oaklands School Field at 7pm and will finish at 8pm. Training will continue every Monday and Friday at 7pm, all new players are welcome.



Under 6, 8 & 10 Hurling

Under 6, 8 & 10 hurling training will continue this Thursday in the GAA field. All players are asked to be in the field at 5.15pm, so they will be ready to start at 5.30pm. Training will finish at 6.30pm. All new players welcome.



Under 12 & 14 Hurling

Training for under 12 & 14 hurling will continue this Wednesday at 7pm in the GAA field, and will finish at 8pm. There will be a blitz on Saturday morning for u14 hurlers. Unfortunately at time of writing the club has no more detail on the blitz, but players will be notified in due course.



Under 14 Football

Under 14 football training will continue this Thursday at 6.15pm in the GAA field, and will finish at 7.15pm. Training will then continue every Tuesday and Thursday in the GAA field.



Pitch-Side Advertisements

With huge demand on our facilities with growing numbers of children playing hurling, football and ladies football, Edenderry GAA are currently offering businesses the opportunity to have a pitch-side advertisement at our GAA grounds on the Carrick Road to help fund upgrading of our current facilities.

The club have already commenced the first phase of works at our grounds. The pitch improvements carried out in 2008 has raised the standards of our main pitch. The removal of the hill, erection of new pitch side fencing, new goalposts, a new scoreboard and ball stoppers along with the consolidation of our floodlighting in our training area has improved our facilities considerably.



Lotto

The jackpot of €6,200 has survived this week’s draw.
The numbers drawn were 4, 7, 18, 21 and the Bonus No 2.
There were three match 3 number winners who shared €200, they were:

Monster Bingo

Edenderry GAA will host a Monster Bingo on Easter Sunday at 8pm in the GAA Pavilion. There will be €5,000 in prize money. The jackpot game will be worth €2,000. Double book plus two jackpots is worth €30, single book plus one jackpot is worth €20, and half book plus half jackpot is worth €10. Over 80’s will be half price.



Bord Na nOg Table Quiz

On Thursday April 16th Bord na nOg are hosting a Table Quiz in O’Donoghues lounge at 9.30pm. Table of four is €20, raffle for spot prizes on the night. Question Master on the night will be Garrett Reilly. Come along on the night and support your children’s team as all funds raised are used to promote Gaelic Games in Edenderry.



Hall Bookings

The hall and lounge in the GAA Pavilion are available for all functions, such as 21st birthday parties, anniversaries etc. You can contact Aidan Burke on 086-3055727 to place a booking.



National Football League

Last Sunday in Newry, the Offaly Senior footballers received another heavy away defeat at the hands of Down on a scoreline of 2-15 to 1-07. Offaly’s final league game will be a home to Limerick. A win in this game would secure Offaly’s place in the Division for 2010.



National Hurling League

The Offaly senior hurlers maintained their winning run in Division 2 of the Hurling League, when they beat Laois on a scoreline of 4-14 to 1-10 in O’Connor Park. Offaly’s next game will be this Sunday 5th April away to Wexford.



Offaly GAA Supporter Pack

The official Offaly Supporters Packs are now available from any committee member at a cost of €35. Subscribers will receive a car sticker and membership card.



Deepest Sympathy

Edenderry GAA would like to extend their deepest sympathies to the Bishop/Lynch Family of Clonmore on their recent sad bereavement.



Underage Disco

Edenderry Bord Na nOg have organized an underage disco for Friday 24th April 2009. The disco commences at 9.00pm and finishes at 11.00pm sharp. The disco is strictly under 14’s.
