SENIOR:

Sunday, April 17th at 2pm in Johnstown  (Senior League Div 1.)

Clan na Gael proved too strong for an Elphin side that gavea good account of themselves but ultimately ran out of steam in the secondhalf.

Clan got off to a flying start with a long range free fromCounty Star Donie Shine after three minutes. Jonathan Dunning punched overanother point before Fintan Cregg responded with a free for Elphin. Dunningadded two more points from play before Elphin took control of the game. Scoresfrom play by Paul Kelleher, Colm Rock and Michael Callery and frees from EannaTiernan and Frankie Cregg put Elphin two ahead before Dunning replied with alate score to leave the bare minimum between the sides at half time.

If the first half wasthe Jonathan Dunning show the second was dominated by Donie Shine. He openedthe scoring with a free and added four more points from play. Dunning didmanage one more score, finding the range despite first pulling up with a leginjury. Points from the Tiernan brothers and a great goal from Frankie Creggwere Elphin’s only response as too many times the wrong option was taken andgood attacking opportunities were wasted.
