Elphin GAA CLUB NOTES 20th JULY 2014

Congratulations to the Under 12s on their 1-12 to 0-8 win over St. Michaels in the Division Two Spring League Final on Sunday in Strokestown. This year's Under 12 panel is as follows: Sean Brady, Rachel Gormley, Cian Beirne, Charlie Brady, Robbie Lee, Ben Gleeson, Declan Main, Gavin Murray, Rossa Brennan Kelly, Luke Shaughnessy, Lauren Shanagher, Dara Casserly Beirne, Evan Shaughnessy, Henry Dowd, Diarmuid McCaffery, Alex Rossiter O'Brien, Charles McDermott, Danny Traynor, Jack Durr, Emmet Keane, Neasa Murray, Emily Gleeson, Christopher Sibanda and Alan Gormley and their Coaches are Padraig Costello, Jim Keane and Vinnie Gleeson. The team is due to play Shannon Gaels in the first round of the Keenan Cup on Wednesday at 8pm 

Commiserations to the Juniors on their defeat to Western Gaels in the Championship. They take on St. Ronans (away) in the League on Friday night at 8pm. 

It's a busy week for the Seniors as they host Clann na nGael in the League on Wednesday night at 8pm and Boyle on Sunday at 2pm. Your support in these two important games would be appreciated. 

The Minors were defeated by Kilbride in the first of the Championship earlier this evening – Final score Elphin 2-10 Kilbride 1-16. Their next game is away to St. Ronans on August 8th. Congratulations to Shane Mulhern who was one of the winners of the Roscommon GAA Gaeltacht Grant competition. 

The Under 16s are due to play Western Gaels in a challenge this week in preparation for this next Championship game. Full details tbc. Well done to Luke Mollahan, who lined out for the Roscommon Under 16s in the Ted Webb Cup on Friday night. The next phase of the competition takes place this Saturday. 

The Under 10s took part in a very enjoyable blitz in O'Rourke Park on Saturday morning. Thank you to Castlerea St. Kevins for their hospitality. 

Our Under 8 are due host Éire Óg, Castlerea St Kevin's, Kilbride and St. Ronan's in the latest round of the Go Games Blitz Series on Saturday morning at 11am. Parents will be contacted with full details. 

There was no winner of last week's Club Lotto Jackpot. Numbers drawn: 10,17,23,25. The Four lucky dip winners of €25 each, were Nelus D'arcy, Rita Fox, Kevin & Alice Brennan, Eric & Regina King. As part of the our 125 celebrations the Club is holding a “Lá na gClub” event in the Orchard Park on Sunday August 3rd from 2-6pm. The event begins with a Mass of Remembrance and Celebration at 2pm followed by a Tag Gaelic (non contact) tournament, novelty events and an exhibition of photographs and other memorabilia, including a gathering of 125 players, young and not so young, in their Elphin jerseys. So make sure to come along and wear your Elphin colours and share in this unique expression of our history. Refreshments will be served and everyone is invited to attend this free event.
