Elphin/Ballinameen Underage Round-up

Elphin Ballinameen U16’s played their second game in Division 1. Unfortunately they were beaten by Clan na Gael on a score line of 7-15 to 1-9. They played their hearts out despite being without a number of players. They now take on Kilmore/Shannon Gaels in the Orchard on Sunday next at 12pm.

The U14 game v Kilglass/St. Barry’s was postponed last week. The team are away to Kilbride on Thursday evening at 8pm.

Elphin LGFA

The U14’s played their first Championship game of the season Tuesday evening at home to St. Mary’s Tulsk. Despite their great efforts they suffered a loss of 8-07 to 3-01. They won their second round match against St. Faithleachs on Sunday evening in the Orchard.

The girls put in a great display of point scoring and never gave up coming from 5 points down at half time to win by a point. Final score 7-06 to 4-16.

Well done to the 3 Elphin girls – Niamh Beirne, Lauren Shanagher & Emily Keane who all got on the scoreboard for the Kilmore Ladies in their Junior Championship win against Kilbride. Round 3 takes place 28th July away to Kilglass Gaels at 6pm.

Our U8’s and U10’s played their next round of Summer Games this week in Ballinameen with the U8’s taking on Shannon Gaels and the U10’s playing both Shannon Gaels and Ballinameen. It was a very enjoyable evening of football with great efforts shown all around. Next games are on Thursday evening at home to Shannon Gaels.

The club wish to extend our gratitude to Marie Mc Donnell of Elphin Pharmacy who sponsored a First Aid Kit for our U8 / U10 ladies and to Seamus & Debbie Leonard who also sponsored a First Aid Kit for our U12 ladies. Sincere thank you for your generosity.

We are holding a clothing collection to raise funds for our underage teams. If you wish to donate your old / unwanted clothes simply fill a bag / bags and drop them inside the gates of the Orchard. We have until the end of the month to gather as many bags as possible. Every bag counts!
