Elphin GAA Club notes 26th Aug 2018

November 8, 2018

It has been a great week for Elphin/Ballinameen U11, U14 and Minor teams.
A massive well done to our U11 team and their management on winning the Darragh Frain Memorial Cup at the weekend. What a great achievement for the Club.  They played 6 matches losing 1 group game to Barna B. They beat Padraig Pearses (Roscommon), St. James, Mervue, Tulsk and Barna A (semi-final).  They met Milltown (Galway) in the final & won on a score of 1-08 to NIL.  Brilliant bunch of lads who improved with every game and coached by John Kelly, Joe Morris, Declan Dwyer & Sean Casey.
The U14’s played Kilglass/St. Barry’s on Monday last and beat them 2-11 to 8pts. They then took on St. Ciarans on Thursday and won 3-9 to 2-9
The Minors has a good win over St. Ciarans beating them 2-13 to 11 pts.
Also well done to U8 and U10 teams who took part in the county blitz in Bekan yesterday. Both teams played exceptionally well. A big thank you to all the players, parents and coaches.

We are organising our now annual trip to Croke Park for the ladies All Ireland finals. The finals take place on Sunday the 16th September.
We need numbers asap in order to book a bus and order tickets. The cost will hopefully be not more than €15 pp for bus AND match tickets.
The trip is available to our U12, U14, U16 teams and younger if accompanied by a parent. Please contact John Keane if you want to go. As usual trip depends on enough adults going.

Our clothing collection is now complete and we wish to extend our gratitude to everyone who supported it by donating old clothes, it is very much appreciated.

The junior's are playing St Faithleachs next Saturday evening in the Orchard at 7 o’clock in the final round of fixtures for the league, if they win they qualify for a play off for a spot in the semi final.  Best of luck to team and management.

We will be holding a club merchandise day in the next couple of weeks, dates to be confirmed.  It will be held in the Orchard and there will be samples available to try on for size on the day.

The club would like to wish Aidan Main the best of luck with his studies in Scotland. We would like to thank him for all his help and dedication in helping John coach our U16 team and for his involvement in play at Minor level.
