Elphin GAA CLUB NOTES 31st Aug 2015

November 8, 2018

The Club extends it's sympathy to the Lambert family on the death of Molly. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam dílis.

The Seniors defeated St. Croans by 0-13 to 0-9 in the Championship on Friday evening. Unfortunately other results went against them on Saturday and they narrowly missed out on a place in the Quarter-Final. They are away to Padraig Pearses in the League on Saturday at 6:45pm and a win would give them a chance of reaching the Semi-Final.

The Juniors made it eight wins out of eight in the League with a 2-12 to 2-7 win over St. Dominics B. The win also guaranteed a home League Final, with a game to spare.

Congratulations to Michael Doherty, Matt Hynes and Kevin Farrell who won prizes in last Friday's Club Rossie Draw. Michael won the top prize of a Toyota Corolla and this is the third time in recent years that Elphin GAA has sold the top prize ticket in the Draw. The Club wishes to thank all those who bought and sold tickets, in particular Club Co-ordinator Sean Lenehan for the great effort he put in.

The Minors drew with St. Aidans 4-7 apiece and they result meant that they missed out on the Knock out stages. This was their last game of the year and we thank the Management and players for their hard work and dedication throughout the season.

The U-12s suffered a heavy defeat to Castlerea although they must be commended for their determination throughout, and there were strong performances from Danny Traynor, John Finnerty and Sam O'Rourke. They face St. Barrys in the Beirne Shield on Wednesday at 7:30pm in Tarmonbarry

The U-10s and U-8s face Kilmore in a Blitz on Saturday, details will be sent to parents via text message.

Abbeycartron National School invites all Club Members who attended the School to a retirement function for outgoing School Principal Michael Rock in An Bothar Rua on Friday September 4th at 9pm sharp.

Best of luck to all our players who resume, or begin, their studies this week.
