Farewell to our Head Coach

November 8, 2018

All at Greenfields would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Deirdre McDermott, who is stepping down from her position as Head Coach. Deirdre departs the post, having been coach since 2010. She has played a key role in the club's success over the past six years.

During this time the club achieved honours four times in the Connacht Senior League, & three times in the Connacht Senior Cup. At national level, Greenfields were the only Connacht team to seal victories in the Irish Hockey Trophy (with back-to-back wins in 2012 & 2013), & earned a place in the inaugural Ernst & Young Irish Hockey League for the 2015/16 season.

Greenfields are the only club in Connacht to have competed in the EY Irish Hockey League, which showcases the top ten teams in the country. We are indebted to Deirdre for all the hours she has given to the club over the past six seasons. Her dedication and high standards & ambition propelled the club into the top echelons of the Irish hockey scene.

All this was accomplished with great personal sacrifice, Deirdre giving so generously of her time, which juggling a busy career in Dublin. She has always cared deeply for Greenfields and has been there for some great times. We wish her well as she takes on new challenges outside the realm of hockey.

Beir bua Deirdre!
