Fathers Vs Sons game a big success

November 8, 2018

The big game on St Stephen’s day turned out to be a great success.  There was a large crowd in attendance to see some of our veteran footballers re-capture their old form and put on a dazzling display.

Padraic Burke and Jarlath Prendergast lit up the scoreboard on multiple occasions while Pete McNicholas made many fine saves in difficult conditions.  Michael Vahey laid down the law but had to issue quite a few yellow cards.  Indeed, many were lucky not to be sent to the sin-bin as some players seemed to be confused about which code was being played.

All in all, a good natured and well contested game was played.  There was a presentation afterwards to Padraic & Jarlath, the two captains, of the Maureen Burke perpetual cup in Byrnes.

All the talk now is of next years game, where more of the veterans are already looking at those old boots and wondering if they still fit….
