Gaa Cul Camp

November 7, 2018

Photographed here  are the children from Drangan and Cloneen who are taking part in this years Gaa summer Cul camp

The Gaa cul camp which is sponsored by Kellogs this year is been held in Cloneen this week with 53 children taking part. The Gaa cul camps provide boys and girls from the ages of 6 to 13 years with an action packed, fun filled week of activity which revolves around maximising enjoyment and sustaining participant involvement in gaelic games. The camp runs from monday to friday starting at 10 am and finishing at 2.30 pm. This year is in total contrast to last year with glorious sunshine and tempetures of up to 30 degrees compared to the horrendous weather conditions which the children had to endure last year. Each day the children are divided into age appropriate groups where the coaches worked on specific skills of hurling and football. Small sided games were then played so the children could put into practice what they had learnt.

On Tuesday the children were join by senior county hurler Kieran Bergin who shared his hurling knowledge with the children. He answered questions from the children about playing for the county but faced some very difficult questions about  what went wrong last saturday evening in Nolan Park. Autographs and photographs were taken and we sincerely thank kieran for taking time out to visit our Cul camp.
We sincerely thank the coaches Declan McNamara, Jenny Logue and Michael Price for their work. We also thank the parents who supervised the camp each day and provide refreshments.
