Galway Hurling Board Meeting report

November 8, 2018

APRIL 2010 COUNTY BOARD MEETING
County Board meeting was held recently, full attendance from all clubs. Over 260 games have been played so far with a very successful U21 program coming to a conclusion. We are down to the County finals in both A and B, which will be played in Ballinasloe this week-end. Looked to have the match played closer to the clubs but ran out of options. The Hurling Board acknowledge this would not have happened without the commitment from both the clubs and the teams and were very grateful for that.
A big thanks was given to the Senior hurlers for getting to the League Final against Cork in Thurlas April 1st. The hurling board had no say over the time of the game which was set for 7.30pm. This was organised by Croke Park.
The Hurling Development Team have a number of players been prepared for the senior team for the future, concentrating on fitness, skill, speed and diet. They will always be looking for players to bring into this Development group. This has been a excellent new development introduced by Joe Byrne and his team at the top table.
Congress is on this week-end, and I will have some detail on that next month.
Senior Championship starts week-end of April 25th.
The Hurling Board are now running a very successful draw where the tickets are 100 euro each. For every ticket sold 65euro goes to the Hurling Board to prepare our County Teams and 35 euro goes to our Hurling Clubs which helps fund the running of your local Club. Winners all around! Hurling in your Club and County need you to buy a ticket or share in buying a ticket.
A thank you was extended to Bernie O’Connor who retired this evening, for all his work done in the Central Council.
The meeting closed with the County Board and delegates congratulating Joe Byrne ( Hurling Board Chairman) and his Officials for what they have done to date in bringing unity and delivering what they as a group said they would deliver.

Regards
