The Galway Hurling Supporters Club (GHSC), in conjunction with the Galway Hurling Board, are delighted to announce details of the Galway Hurling Open Day with the Galway Senior Hurling Team in Kenny Park, Athenry on Saturday, May 22nd. The Panel and management, who have already annexed the National Hurling League title and the Walsh Cup will be in Athenry between 11.30am and 2pm and hurling fans are encouraged to come out and show their appreciation for the team and their achievements to date in 2010.

This is unique opportunity to see, meet and pick up hurling tips from the Galway Hurling panel as they prepare for the Senior Hurling Championship which commences against Division 2 NHL champions Wexford on the following weekend, Saturday May 29th in Nowlan Park Kilkenny at 7pm.

The Open Day will begin with an opportunity to see a practice match between the members of the Senior Hurling panel at 11.30am. Following the match, the players are available to meet the fans and pass on their hurling skills and tips. This event is aimed at Primary School boys and girls up to 12 years of age. The Skills Session will be facilitated by coaches from the Galway GAA Coaching & Development group and to participate in the skills session, each child must have their hurl, helmet and sliotar.

Supermacs will provide catering in Kenny Park on the day and a draw for signed Galway 2010 jerseys will take place, with other spot prizes throughout the event. A fun day is promised for all, running from 11.30 to 2pm, while the chance to get autographs from their favourite players will be a real bonus, before Galway head into the Leinster Hurling Championship action.

Further details are available on the GHSC website www.ghsc.ie and on GHSC Facebook page. The Galway Hurling Supporters Club aims to aid the promotion and development of hurling at all levels throughout Galway, and GHSC wish Manager John McIntyre and Captain Shane Kavanagh and their respective teams continued success in what has so far been a great 2010 Hurling Season.
