Girls under 12's Parish league finals.

November 7, 2018

The four teams which took part in the inaugural girls Under 12 parish league.

Saturday afternoon past was the inaugural Parish League Finals day. The Shield final was contested first, which was the pairing of Cork v Galway. The Rebels led at the interval by a point but the resolute Tribeswomen managed to get 2 points in the second half to secure a victory in what was a tremendous contest with end to end attacks. The Cup final saw Monaghan play Kerry. Both sides exchanged early scores and they went in at the break level. The Kingdom delivered some telling early scores after the break and despite their best efforts Monaghan just couldn’t break down a resolute defence.

Sheelagh Carew Tipperary Ladies Intermediate captain presented Niamh Keane with the victorious Shield & Caoimhe Ryan with the Cup. All players received medals for their tremendous efforts throughout the League. Light refreshments were welcomed by all in the Clubhouse and thanks to all the parents who helped out and brought the refreshments. Our thanks to all the parents, grandparents and all the supporters for their support throughout the Parish League and indeed for all their support and commitment throughout the year. To the eight team mentors: Helen, Trish, Milo, Úna, Pat, Aliaster, Paula and John, a huge thanks for all your efforts. A special thanks to Siobhan Vaughan who officiated as referee. The Cup, Shield and medals were sponsored by our club lotto, thanks to James Ryan and the lotto committee for their ongoing support and we hope that the Parish League Cup and Shield will get many years of use. We would especially like to thank Sheelagh Carew for travelling the whole from Cappawhite to undertake the presentations, which made the finals day all the more special. Finally, the greatest accolade went to all our young players who brought us so much enjoyment with their skills & commitment over the past 4 weeks – well done girls!
