Intermediates Need a Win

Glenroe intermediates will need a victory over Newcastlewest in round 3 of the group stage of the hurling championship, on Friday next in Ballyagran in order to ensure qualification for the quarter final stages. Glenroe lost to Hospital/Herbertstown in round one and were lucky to grind out a win over Caherline in the second round.

 

Under 21’s

Glenroe 1-14 St. Johns 5-14

Our U-21’s met St. Johns in Hospital on Tuesday, 18th August and were defeated by 5-14 to 1-14.

 

Harvest Festival

A three day harvest festival, to raise funds for the dressing rooms, will take place over the weekend of the 11th/13th September. Donations of books, magazines, brick-a-brac will be accepted in the Community Hall Glenroe after mass on Saturday night 29th August and on Saturday night 5th September. Any donations of cakes & confectionary will be accepted on Sunday morning, 13th September.

The weekend kicks off on Friday, 11th September, with a school quiz in the Community Hall at 6:30 p.m. This is followed by Bingo at 8:30 p.m. A teenage disco takes place in the marquee from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Anyone looking for a more relaxing evening can avail of the music in Daly’s Darragh.

Saturday 12th September is an action planned day with the now annual, McCarthy and Moynihan Cup Tournaments for underage hurlers being the centre of attention. A car treasure hunt takes place at 3:30 p.m. before the BBQ in the GAA Field with music by Rebel Hearts followed by DJ John “Chuckie” Hayes from Spin South West.

Sunday 13th September is a family fun day with music; camogie match; sports for all; U-16 hurling match; Poc Fada/Penalities competition; Gladiator Arena; Sumo suits & Slides; Book & Plant Stalls; BBQ; Dog Show; Wheel of Fortune; Bingo; Pony Rides; Face Painting; Teas refreshments etc. The close of the festival will take place in Mee’s Ballyorgan on the Sunday night with the raffle draw and music. Tickets for the draw costing €2 each are currently on sale.
